Abstract

Lithium Fluoride is an efficient, inexpensive and readily available catalyst for the three component, one-pot condensation reaction of an aldehyde, isopropyl acetoacetate and thiourea in ethanol to afford the corresponding dihydropyrimidinones in high yield. The catalyst exhibited remarkable reusable activity. The compounds have been characterized on the basis of their elemental analysis and FT-IR, 1H and 13C NMR spectroscopies.
