Nowadays the players are trained with the help of practice machine. To simulate different varieties of motions, speeds, and trajectories accurately and repeatedly, practice machine is designed by iterative design processes (manual calculations) with solid works. Two counter rotating wheel mechanism imparts both translational and rotational motions with spin. It is portable, flexible, run-on AC source, operated at various horizontal and vertical planes and desired combinations of both planes. This ball machine was constructed utilizing readily accessible components from the market. Because lowering manufacturing costs is one of the project’s goals, the materials were chosen based on their reduced cost. Furthermore, the machine’s parts are made of recycled and locally sourced materials. Therefore, after building is complete, this machine will be useful to many individuals, especially active gamers. The mathematical analysis for the design of a new tennis ball launcher in order to assess the possibilities for its technical implementation. First, traditional launchers are described. The motion equation of the flying tennis and cricket ball is formulated and numerically solved. This makes it possible to analyze the trajectories of the ball for different initial conditions: elevation angles, velocity of ball. Then, the mathematical analysis of the launcher with two counter rotating rollers is presented.
Pankaj B. Gavali, Sujit S. Patil, Sanjaykumar M. EV needs no introduction for the automobile world. Almost all vehicle manufacturers in the car segment are looking for alternate ways to propel the vehicle ever since fossil fuel operated vehicles have become a cause of concern by the spiraling cost of fuel and pollutants. The paper through descriptive research methodology intends to identify opportunities to reduce the dependency on battery pack. Consideration of utilizing the kinetic energy of the car, wind energy by using vested funnels and solar energy using flexible solar array is made. These findings may serve as input in improving efficiency, ensuring clean energy for EV and further research on the subject.
Sankar Rajeev Copyright (c) 2022 Asian Review of Mechanical Engineering Thu, 15 Dec 2022 00:00:00 +0000 Experimental Investigation on the Effect of Deep Cryogenic Treatment on 100 Cr6 Bearing Steel
Cryogenic treatment is the process of cooling a material to extremely low temperatures to generate enhanced mechanical and physical properties. The present investigation examines the effect of deep cryogenic treatment on the enhancement of mechanical properties, such as wear resistance, corrosion resistance, tensile strength and impact strength of the plunger material 100Cr6 bearing steel. The improvement in the wear resistance, corrosion resistance, tensile strength and impact strength of the deep cryogenically treated samples over the conventionally heat treated ones,is 50%, 26%, 13% and 27% respectively. This study suggests that the formation of very small carbides dispersed in the tempered martensite structure, can be the main reason for the enhancement of certain mechanical properties, along with the retained austenite transformations.
R. When a high-pressure air is tangentially injected into vortex chamber, a strong vortex flow will be created which will split into two air streams, one hot stream at the periphery and the other cold stream at the inner core on both the ends. It can be used in the industrial applications such as spot cooling of cutting tools, heating process, refrigerators etc. It is weightless and requires less space. Also, the initial cost is low and its working expenses are less where compressed air is readily available. The present work is to analysis the performance of vortex tube by changing the mass flow rate of air at inlet and cold outlet. Vortex tube refrigeration system set up is fabricated with the help of instruments such as rotameter, pressure transmitter and RTD temperature sensors. In this experiment, a small vortex tube which is made up of stainless steel is used. The vortex tube is well insulated with a suitable insulating material. The experiment is carried out by varying the thermo-physical properties of the compressed air which is used as working fluid. By regulating the hot end control knob of vortex tube, the pressure, mass flow rate and temperature of air is measured at different points for various inlet working pressure.
G. The main aim of this research paper is to analyze the effect of micro blowing flow rate and its different hole-parameters on the skin friction drag reduction of an aircraft engine nacelle operating at cruise conditions. The primary tasks are focused to understand the behavior of the flow characteristics at the vicinity of the micro-porous holes by means of different types of MBT configurations. The interaction between main-stream flow and the micro-channel flow is numerically solved by using the Reynolds average Navier-Stokes equation and the k-omega SST is used to model the turbulent flow at the vicinity of the wall region. The hole-pattern is kept aligned in a single-row channel and the shape of the hole cross-section is kept straight to obtain an overall simplicity of the simulation model. The influences of the micro blowing technique are quite clearly seen from the simulation results, as there is a significant reduction in the velocity gradient between the solid engine nacelle surface and all the MBT configurations. The porous engine nacelle surface with zero blowing velocity is capable to reduce the skin friction drag by 7.045 % than of its solid surface, implying that the presence of the micro-porous holes possesses low effective surface roughness, and it is an effective method to manipulate the turbulent boundary layer. The optimum skin friction drag reduction is observed when the geometrical characteristics of the holes possess small diameter and high aspect ratio.
Macdonald Mutekwa, Mushfiq Al Arafa, Zhaolin Chen Copyright (c) 2022 Asian Review of Mechanical Engineering Thu, 15 Dec 2022 00:00:00 +0000
