Abstract

Information is the very basis of human existence. Information is essential element for the progress of higher education. The main aim of this study was to find out the information gathering habits of students from different disciplines of Velammal Engineering College in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India. A well-structured questionnaire was circulated to collect the needed information from 9 Undergraduate engineering branches. This study examines several aspects of library use, including frequency of visiting the library, satisfaction with library hours, library collection and level of user satisfaction from library services, and cover the use of reference sources in the library. The study was conducted through survey by distributing questionnaires among 270 students and 91% of students responded.
